6 November 2023, Paris – The Royal Commission for Riyadh City, the government entity responsible for the Kingdom’s bid to host World Expo 2030, today hosted an impressive closing ceremony for the Riyadh Expo 2030 bid campaign in the French capital city of Paris.
The closing ceremony was attended by Their Highnesses and Excellencies, ministers and a high-ranking Saudi delegation in the presence of representatives of the member states of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the multilateral organization responsible for World Expo. Also present were senior French officials, representatives of major international organizations, and diplomats of foreign missions based in France.
Speaking on the occasion, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said the Kingdom’s World Expo bid fulfills its commitment to the affirmation of H.R.H. Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to deliver the most impactful World Expo ever with the highest levels of innovation and to provide an exceptional experience to the Expo visitors.
His Highness Prince Faisal said the closing ceremony of Riyadh Expo campaign comes ahead of the final voting that will take place later this month to select the host city. The ceremony was part of the bidding process and demonstrated the Kingdom’s commitment to meet the BIE’s technical and organizational requirements and fulfill the aspirations of the member states.
The Kingdom is committed to embracing highest standards of sustainability at Riyadh Expo 2030 and apply fairness in the distribution of pavilions and use of technology. The Kingdom will deliver the most impactful edition of World Expo with the full support of the Kingdom’s wise leadership, the cooperation of government institutions and the private sector, and the enthusiasm of Saudi citizens to welcome the world during this international event.
During the ceremony, Riyadh’s preparations, the capital city’s readiness to host the World Expo 2030, and its fulfillment of the BIE obligations for competing countries were reviewed. The main theme of the Riyadh Expo 2030 is ‘The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow’, and the subthemes are ‘A Better Tomorrow’; ‘Climate Action’; and ‘Prosperity for All’.
An exhibition during the closing ceremony highlighted the growth and development and urban transformation of the Kingdom’s capital city and presented Saudi Arabia’s vision that seeks to present an Expo from the world and to the world and involve local and international companies in building and constructing the Riyadh Expo 2030 site. Also, an impressive live performance during the ceremony in Paris enthralled the participants, showcasing the Kingdom’s rich art, culture and music.
The Riyadh Expo 2030 will offer developed and developing countries the opportunity to participate as part of the Kingdom’s ‘One Country, One Pavilion’ plan, in addition to the Collaborative Change Corner (C3), a dedicated area that will be an engine of innovation and creativity, as it aims to showcase international collaboration in scientific, social, and technical innovations.
