Paris, 14 October 2023: The Royal Commission for Riyadh City in the French capital, Paris, organized a seminar entitled “A Different Tomorrow,” which is one of the sub-themes of the Riyadh Expo 2030. The seminar included the participation of His Excellency the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Abdullah AlSwaha and the First Saudi Astronaut Rayyanah Barnawi, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Mr. Bernard Ghanem, and the Expert at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, Mr. Carlos Grau Lara. In the presence of several member countries of the Bureau International des Exposition and global experts.
During the seminar, His Excellency Eng. Abdullah AlSwaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, emphasized that “the Kingdom’s initiatives in the fields of technology and sustainability place Riyadh in a leading position to achieve a better future for all.” He noted the importance of interdependence and cooperation among nations, saying, “The connections formed there will not only lead to shared technological and economic progress but will also pave the way for solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Be it sustainable development, climate action, or inclusive growth, our expo promises the development of accelerated and holistic solutions.”
The First Saudi Astronaut, Rayyanah Barnawi, said: “My mission is to inspire the next generation to become future scientists, initiators, and innovators in the future for a different tomorrow, which meets the Riyadh Expo 2030’s goal, and we will work to transform the expo into a global platform that contributes to creating sustainable opportunities for a better and different tomorrow.” She added: “As astronauts often say, “space is for everyone,” I would say that Riyadh Expo 2030 is the space for everyone.”
Mr. Bernard Ghanem, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at (KAUST) said: “We are a catalyst for innovation, economic development, and societal prosperity in Saudi Arabia and the world, which will reflect positively on Riyadh Expo 2030.”
The Expert at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, Mr. Carlos Grau Lara, said: “Riyadh has an exceptional opportunity of transformation that would be certainly accelerated by Expo 2030.” He added: ” Riyadh has all the conditions to carry out a great transformation within the Saudi Vision 2030 fully aligned with Sustainable Development Goals.”
It is noteworthy that the series of seminars held by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City in the French capital, Paris, aims to discuss the significant goals of Riyadh Expo 2030, introduce its main theme and sub-themes, and establish meaningful connections with participating countries to enhance their importance. The seminar also aims to gather ideas, opinions, and inputs from delegates and experts on the relevance of technology and innovation impacts on the economy and infrastructures.
